Hopi Silver Overlay Jewelry

The Hope have a distinctive style, that of silver overlay jewelry.

The Hopi came a little later on the scene in acquiring the skills of silversmithing.

Located at the high tabelelands of northeastern Arizona, the Hopi remained isolated from contacts with other tribes or other peoples.

In time the Hopi developed trading with the Zuni, and from them the Hopi learned the technique of silversmithing.

The Hopi became renowned for developing the technique of using silver overlay.
